Cardinal Bo of Myanmar sends his deepest condolences to the people of the northern state of Kachin who came under attack on October 23 in the A Nang Pa region of Hpakant township in the Kachin state of Myanmar.

"My deepest sympathies for all the victims," he told Radio Veritas Asia, adding that he was also praying for the families of those who lost loved ones so that they could find comfort during this hard time.

Cardinal Charles Bo, Archbishop of Yangon, and President of the Federation of Asian Bishops Conferences, is in Bangkok for the FABC 50 General Conference.

Cardinal said that he came to know from the Reuters and BBC reports that as many as 80 people lost their lives and around a hundred people were wounded in the Sunday night attack on the Kachin minorities gathered in a celebration.

The United Nations regional office in Myanmar condemned the attack and said in a statement that it was “deeply concerned and saddened by the reports.”
